How This Speed Test Works

This tool measures your real internet performance in three parts. First, it sends quick signals to a server and times how fast they return — that is your ping, measured in milliseconds. Lower ping means a more responsive connection, which matters most for video calls and online games.

Next, it downloads a real chunk of data from a fast server and measures how long it takes, converting that into Megabits per second (Mbps). This is your download speed — the number that matters most for streaming, browsing, and downloading files.

Finally, it sends data in the other direction to measure your upload speed, important for video calls, sending files, and live streaming.

Your IP address and internet provider are detected automatically using your connection's public network information.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do my results change between tests?

Network speed varies based on how many devices share your connection, time of day, and your provider's network load. Running the test two or three times and averaging the results gives the most accurate picture.

Does this speed test cost anything?

No. This tool is completely free, requires no sign-up, and runs entirely in your browser. Nothing to download or install. It works on any phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop.

Is my IP address stored anywhere?

No. Your IP address is detected from your connection and displayed to you only. This site does not store, log, or share your IP address. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

What does ping mean?

Ping is how long it takes a signal to travel from your device to a server and back, measured in milliseconds. Under 40ms is excellent. 40–100ms is good for most purposes. Above 150ms can cause noticeable lag in video calls and online games.
